Ben, Rachael and Nick left shortly after Emma. They jumped in a taxi and asked him to follow her. She pulled up at a clinic and got out. The trio paid their driver, then ducked into the coffee shop across the street to see if she went inside.
As they watched, Grace walked up and threw her arms around Emma.
Ben was shocked to see Grace. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. All the feelings he had for her came rushing back. She truly was an angel. It didn’t surprise him to see her supporting Emma. She was exactly the kind of person that would do that.
“Oh my God,” said Rachael, “she was afraid to tell me so she told Grace. And she obviously hasn’t told Casey yet or he would be here.” Rachael glanced at Ben before continuing, “Grace and Emma became close while you two were together. She probably didn’t want to come to the apartment because she might see you.”
“We weren’t together,” said Ben defensively.
“Coulda fooled me,” shot back Rachael.
As the two girls walked arm in arm into the building. Ben thought he was going to be sick. It was too hard to see Grace. “I gotta go. You guys have it from here.”
Rachael put her hand on Ben’s arm. “I’m sorry Ben,” she said softly.
Ben didn’t want to argue with Rachael. “It’s okay Rachael. Listen, you should try to talk to Emma when she gets back. She’s going to be a mess. But I can’t stay here.”
Rachael watched Ben walk off then turned her attention to Nick. “I’m going to see if I can find out which doctor’s office they go into. Wait here, I’ll be right back.”

Rachael followed the two girls into the building. Sure enough, they went to the OB-GYN waiting room. She snuck in and sat around the corner so they couldn’t see her.
As she watched, Emma sat down and Grace walked up to the registration desk. The receptionist took some information and gave her a tablet.
Grace sat back down with Emma. When it was Grace that began to somberly fill out the paperwork, the realization hit her like a ton of bricks. Emma wasn’t pregnant. Grace was. She didn’t know which was worse.

Racheal turned and ran back to the cafe and threw herself into Nick’s arms. “Oh Nick,” was all she could say.
“Baby! What’s wrong?” he asked, “They went to the OB? Right?”
Rachael nodded her head crying, but didn’t let go of Nick. She had to tell him. It would soon be apparent that Emma wasn’t pregnant. At least Emma was there for Grace. She shuddered to think what would happen when Ben found out. She assumed it was Ben’s. Everyone knew he didn’t want kids or to be tied down. It was his mantra.
“Rach, why are you crying sweetheart? We knew this was probably what was going on.”
Rachael looked at Nick knowing he wasn’t going to like what she said. “It’s not Emma Nick, it’s Grace.”
She watched as his expression went from concern to shock. “Fuck. We can’t tell Ben. Shit, he will figure it out anyway. Damn.”
Rachael composed herself and nodded, “I know. I will have a heart-to-heart with Emma when she gets home. No wonder she is acting so weird. She really liked Ben, you know, so it’s gotta be hard for her to see Grace carrying his child – even though she is with Casey.”
“Ben still cares a lot for Emma too,” replied Nick somberly. “When I told him what we thought, he lost it. He wanted to beat the hell out of Casey. That’s why he wanted to come with us. He wanted to be there for her. Seeing Grace obviously spooked him. He isn’t over her by a long shot, even though he pretends to be. I’ve never seen him so depressed before.”
“Why the hell does he run from the people that care about him? I’m glad he left. And I just felt sorry for him. God, he’s such a dick.”
“That’s dick-hay-ud,” corrected Nick with a sad smile.
She smiled at his ‘Emmaism’. She loved Nick so much. Seeing what Ben and Grace had been going through and we’re getting ready to deal with had made her extremely emotional. She needed Nick to know that he had captured her heart, that she loved him completely. Right now, this minute, she didn’t care if he wasn’t ready to say it back. Rachael took a deep breath and slowly let it out. “Nick, there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you and now probably isn’t the right time but…”
Nick cut her off, “Oh God, are you pregnant too? Shit Rachael, I mean it’s okay if you are because…”
Rachael stopped him and smiled shaking her head. Nick was one of the sweetest people she knew next to Emma. But she needed to get the words out before Nick blurted out something he would regret thinking she was pregnant.
“Shh. No Babe, I’m not pregnant. But if I were, I would be very happy because, Nicolas Hamlin, I love you. And I will want and love any children that we ever have together.”
“What did you just say? Rachael?”
Oh crap, she thought, I’ve messed up. She said it once and she would say it again. “I said ‘I love you’ Nick,” she repeated softly.
Nick kissed her before she could say more and she couldn’t stop the smile that covered her face or the tears that ran down her cheeks.
“Don’t cry baby,” he whispered into her ear as he held her close, “I love you too. I wanted to tell you for awhile, but….I was afraid.”
Rachael was overcome. “Please Nick, we need to tell each other everything from now on. Trust each other. No secrets. Not like…”
“Yeah,” said Nick, “no secrets, not ever. Now, come on ‘Wonder Woman’, let’s get out of here before we get caught spying. I know you’re pissed at Ben, but I need to check on him.”
Rachael smiled sweetly. “And that’s only one of the many reasons I love you.”
Nick stopped walking and turned to Rachael grinning. “What was that? I couldn’t hear you.”
Rachael kissed him passionately. “Did you hear that?” she said breathless.
“Mmmm. Loud and clear Wonder Woman. We better go before they kick us out.”
