Chapter 42 – Willow Creek

01-14-18_2-01-38 PM.png“Where’s the rug rat today?” asked Sunglasses. He had a stupid grin on his face that Ben would love to slap off.

Disgusted, Ben handed him the drugs. “It’s all there,” he growled out.

He handed Ben an envelope in exchange. “I’m sure it is. See you in two weeks,” he said. Then he and his muscle turned to leave.

“Wait,” called out Ben, “We need to talk. I’m moving.”

“So,” said Sunglasses.

01-14-18_2-02-22 PM.png“I’m moving out of town. I won’t be able to make anymore drops.”

“No. You aren’t. Not if the boss doesn’t agree,” said Sunglasses, as if that were the end of the conversation.

01-14-18_2-08-32 PMThat pissed Ben off. “You sons-of-bitches know my wife died!” Ben shouted, “I need help with my son. I’m moving back home. I will gladly give you the damn plants. Someone else can grow this shit for you.”

01-14-18_2-18-16 PM.pngSunglasses glared at him over the top of his glasses. “Don’t. Go. Anywhere. Asshole. We’ll be in touch.”

“When?” asked Ben desperate for answers.

01-14-18_2-56-26 PMBeanie must have decided it was time to make himself useful and pushed Ben up against the wall. He put his finger in Ben’s face and held him with his other hand. “When we do – that’s when – Pretty Boy. Now, go back to your rat-hole apartment and wait. That is if you want to keep that pretty face. Like the man said.  ‘Don’t. Go. Anywhere. Asshole.’ We will be in touch.”

01-14-18_3-59-24 PM.pngBen had managed to calm himself down on the walk back from the Karaoke bar. When he got to Emma’s, he knocked, then let himself in without waiting for a reply. He didn’t want to frighten her again by appearing nervous.

After he called his mother and made  plans to move back to Willow Creek, he had apologized to Emma and Nick. They forgave him and by extension Casey and Rachael  were tolerating him again. He had missed their interaction more than he thought. And he could tell Emma had missed Cole. She was going to make a really good mother to Casey’s kids someday. Lucky bastard.

01-14-18_4-03-14 PM“Hey Ben. That was fast. So, when are you and my favorite little boy leavin’?” she asked, saying the words to Cole instead of Ben and earned a squeal from the baby.

“I’m not sure. As soon as I work out a few details,” he said, trying to be vague.

Cole was drifting off to sleep so she put him back in the carrier. She turned to Ben lowering her voice so she wouldn’t wake up the sleeping baby.  “Oh. I thought it was done and you were leavin’ sometime next week,” said Emma.

“Maybe. Where’s Rachael?”

01-14-18_4-12-45 PM.png“She and Nick went out to get groceries.”

“Casey?”

“Comin’ over after class.”

“Is he staying the night?”

“None of your business.”

01-14-18_4-15-03 PM“Look, I just don’t want you to be alone until I’ve worked some things out. I’ll stay until Casey or Nick gets back.”

“Ben, is everything okay? You’re scarin’ me again.”

01-14-18_4-17-37 PM.pngShit. That was what he was trying not to do. “Everything is fine. We just have to work out the details of my move. How was Cole?”

“He gave me a raspberry – over and over and over. Did you teach him that?” she asked.

That’s my boy, thought Ben and grinned at her, guilt written all over his face.

01-14-18_4-20-06 PM.png“Figures as much. Bless his heart, the next thing you know he’ll be fartin’ to Achy Breaky Heart. Now, Ben Murdock, stop changin’ the subject. I know you’re lyin’ to me. What happened? What details are left to work out?”

01-14-18_4-23-06 PM.pngBen’s phone buzzed before he could answer. “One sec Em, I need to deal with this.” He looked at the message.

Shit, Ben didn’t want to tell him but decided it would be better than lying to them.  He got up and walked away from Emma.

Willow Creek he texted back and it actually went this time.

When he didn’t get an immediate response he started to get nervous. Finally another text came through.

01-14-18_4-53-43 PMBen let out a sigh of relief. He wanted out. Hopefully the deal was where to deliver the plants. He couldn’t wait to get it over with and leave this place.

He and Cole would actually have their own home in Willow Creek. Leroy had a couple of small two bedrooms available for the workers and he said he would hold one for Ben. He had even offered him a job – when he was ready. That sounded so much better than being here with all the memories of what could have been. This time it really would be a new beginning for him and Cole.

He would miss Nick and even Rachael. But most of all Emma. She had been a good friend through all of his shit. He had already told Lillie May, and as much as it hurt, she had encouraged him. They agreed he would make the trip to see her every two weeks.

Ben texted back. “Okay” and the reply came back undeliverable. Of course. Burner phones.

01-14-18_4-38-53 PMHe looked up when he felt Emma watching him. She was holding Cole again. A strange feeling washed over him as he noticed how natural it was to see her mothering his child. His heart ached at the same time. It should be Grace.

01-14-18_4-50-15 PMHe got emotional and quickly looked away pretending to look at his phone. By the time he had regained control, she had put Cole back in the carrier, so he walked over and sat back down next to her.

Emma took Ben’s hand. “All worked out now sweetie?” she asked as she rubbed the top of his much larger hands with hers.

01-14-18_5-06-54 PMHe would always remember her warm hands. No matter what else he remembered, that would always stay with him every time he touched Emma’s hands. Ben nodded in answer to her question. “I have another meeting tomorrow. Same time, can you…”

01-14-18_5-16-40 PM.png“Of course,” she said before he could finish. She leaned into him and put her head on his shoulder. “Are you okay Ben?”

01-14-18_5-11-26 PMBen put his arm around her and pulled her closer. “I’ll be better once we are gone. My ‘big ass family’ – as Nick so eloquently put it – will be there to help me. But Emma, I’m going to miss you terribly. I’m sorry for every rotten thing I ever said or did to you. I don’t know how you put up with me.”

Emma sniffed back tears, “Ben, you have the biggest heart of anyone I know. I saw how much you loved Grace. I see the obvious love you have for that baby. Yet, you have already started lockin’ that big ‘ol heart right back up tight again.”

01-14-18_5-22-21 PMBen let out a soft sigh. “Love hurts when it’s taken away, or abused. It’s easier not to love. Be very sure before you say yes to Casey.”

“Stop deflectin’ me,” she said and pulled away, “I already said yes anyway.”

01-14-18_5-21-51 PM“I’m over it Emma.” Not really, he thought,  but Emma doesn’t need to share that pain. “But love, not so much. I can’t do this ever again. I won’t survive it and Cole needs me.”

“Ben, don’t close yourself off again. Don’t go back to one night stands. There is someone out there for you. Grace would want that. For you and for Cole too. She loved you so much and would want you to be happy.”

01-14-18_6-41-39 PMBen turned to Emma and tipped her chin so he could look into her eyes and smiled. “She’s taken. Emma…if Casey ever….well…you know where to find me. Aaaand speak of the devil. Hi Casey.”

01-14-18_6-19-05 PM.pngCasey looked at Emma and Ben on the couch snuggled together. “Hey, what’s this shit? Murdock, you making a move on my fiancée?”

Ben stood up. “Nope,” he said and glared at Casey.

Casey quickly took Ben’s place on the couch next to Emma.

01-14-18_6-45-35 PM.png“Casey, there aren’t very many angels in this world and Emma is one of them,” said Ben, very calm and controlled, “If you ever hurt her in any way, shape or form, I will hunt your ass down and make you pay. And you better damn well not forget it.”

Casey held up his hands looking confused. He looking back and forth between Ben and Emma. “Hey man. What hell did I do, or didn’t I do? Emma?

01-14-18_6-48-08 PMEmma pulled him close and kissed his cheek. “Nothin’ Babe. Ben’s just goin’ all big brother on me. He was waitin’ for you to get here before he would leave. We were just talkin’.”

01-14-18_7-05-20 PMBen picked up Cole and turned to leave so he wouldn’t have to watch them together. It was hard to see happy couples, even though he was glad Emma was happy. “See you tomorrow Emma. Casey, you should stay the night.”  He really needed to get the hell out of San Myshuno.

  2. Awww what a bittersweet chapter..! It’s so sad Ben has to leave Emma behind 😢
Something tells me she and Casey are going to go through with this wedding but maybe they’ll break up eventually… ah, but I guess I’m getting ahead of myself!
Right now I think Ben is going to meet Sofia back in Willow Creek again and hopefully there will be some sparks between them?
And I can’t wait to see how the meeting tomorrow is going to go… something tells me not well! 😥

    *few minutes pass*
    “Uhh boss asked where”
    😂😂 ❤❤❤

Oh Ben, see? There’s no way you’re getting out of the druggo biz
Might as well have Cole call Sunglasses and Beanie “Uncle Glasses” and “Mr. Hat” 🙄

    • They think they are bad ass! But still have to answer to the Boss man…😂😂

Poor Ben, he ain’t gonna get out of this as easily as he thought. Uncle Glasses and Mr. Hat! 😳 Well, at least Emma kept Cole this time.

  4. Awwwww this chapter felt like some nice ‘closure’ (maybe?) for Emma and Ben. I loved that he admitted that she’s the only other woman he’d consider getting with after Grace… darn Casey ruining everything 😉 Hahaha

I am very intrigued to see what kind of deal the dealers will be offering Ben! Hopefully it’s nothing too crazy… This boy needs to get the hell out of there and start focusing on being a father!

    • Sorry for all the Bemma shippers…that ship is taking on water fast. Darn Casey….is right.

I hope it’s where to ship the plants….maybe. He definitely needs to be able to focus on being a Dad….

  5. Well…so glad Emma and Cole are happy. He’s a cutie!

And now! BEN! You’re hurtling toward my ship and that’s all I’m going to say. Too bad you don’t have a Meatball to take care of your…problem…

  7. Ben is going home!!! There will not be a short supply of people to help watch over Cole! And as much as I’m going to miss Emma, I have a feeling this will not be the last time we see her. (I am hoping there will be a moment like from the movie The Graduate ;-))
And speaking of people that we might see again, letting those goons know where Ben is moving to might not be the best idea. Getting out isn’t going to be as easy as that. I wonder who the Boss is, and if we ever get to see him/her!!

    • Yep. Going home! I don’t know if we will see Emma again or not. They are good friends so I hope so!
As for the goons, he felt like lying to them wouldn’t be good for his health! I hope he figured out how to get out at some point.

  8. I’m not so sure how I feel about this whole situation…At the same time that it’s good for him to move to a new place, he will still be on the drug dealer’s hands, same about Emma, I would love to see him with another person ( maybe to prove to himself he CAN love again) buuuuut I think she’s happy with Casey ( If she isn’t, the I will *gladly* ship her with Ben.)

  9. I worry more and more about Ben. Those drug dealers..I worry about how long they will be hunting him. It was such a bad decision to ever make any deals with them, but it’s too late now. And I was wondering what Casey would do when seeing them together…Ah, I hope he cherishes Emma because she fricking deserves it. Such a lady with a golden heart.

  10. OH snap… it’s never that easy, Ben; I can see them in 10 years, doing drug runs together, closets full of Audreys, maybe the cute drug goons get Cole his first pair of sunglasses and his first beanie?
See, it could *still* have a happy ending!

LOL. Is he going to show up at Emma and Casey’s wedding and beg her to run away with him? Probably not. Poor Casey! (ebil cackle)

    • If only it was that easy. Cole with a beanie and sunglasses…that’s too much! ❤️

Emma would tell him to quit being a stoopid dick-hay-ud! 😂😂😂

  11. So we see the beginning of the consequences of Ben’s bad decision to raise cannibus and sell it to drug dealers. We are never free from the consequences of our bad decisions….
Thanks for the storyline so far, I think that Sophia is also in willow creek too. Wonder if the two will ever get together again now Emma is getting married to Casey?
And it looks like you are not going to take sims 4 solutions to bringing Grace back to life. .

    • Poor Grace isn’t coming back. 😢 Only in loving memories. Yes…you reap what you sew and the drugs are going to haunt him for a while longer. But at least his parents are there and he can begin the process of building a life for himself and Cole… 🙂

  12. Ugh Ben is such an idiot about telling those goons. I still think leaving without a trace would be better.

Also he has to back off from Emma! -_-
    Never mingle into other’s relationships!
He had his chance once, but he blew it.

and omg Casey’s nose is pretty ❤

  13. Alright, despite the seriousness of the exchange at the beginning, I couldn’t help but laugh at the rug rat line. I can’t believe Ben took Cole on his drop before. XD The dealers are surprisingly chill, their texts with Ben were also amusing. I didn’t think it would be that easy for Ben to even suggest leaving, but now I’m worried they’ll want him to be a part of their business even after he moves. Ack, I have no idea how this is going to get resolved but I’m hoping Ben can really get out scotch free and hand off the plants…
Man, Emma really is so beautiful, inside and out :’) ❤ A part of me is sad she'll probably have a long successful relationship with Casey because I can see her also being a solid rock for Ben that maybe kind of could become something more :3

    • Emma❤️❤️❤️. The best. Ben could have had Emma at one point, but she’s solidly in Casey’s court. His messiness was too much for her. But she loves Ben very much. She knew a relationship with him would be rough and wanted no part of it.

As for taking Cole, he had no choice really.

  14. He, he, I feel like I’m the only one who was never on board with Ben and Emma 😛 She made the right call and she looks sweet with Casey 🙂 I was kind of afraid he would do something stupid, like try and kiss her – he’s in no shape to be in a relationship now.

  15. Awwww very bittersweet Ben is still in a lot of pain and probably will be for a long time. And he is still extremely protective of Emma. That can be a good thing but can also cause tension, as we have seen. I really hope the friendship can stand the test of time and distance since Ben is leaving. Hopefully they can visit fairly often, and who knows what will happen in the future? This is a good move for Ben though. He needs to heal, and Cole needs stability. Let’s hope the goons don’t give him a hard time, but it’s going to be an interesting meeting nonetheless.
