Chapter 4.43 – Stay

“Hi Veronica,” said Tyler when she answered the door. Why wasn’t Keira ever ready when he got there?

“Come in, she’ll be ready in a minute.” Veronica gave him an apologetic smile.

They sat down on the couch to wait and it was awkward. Veronica looked a little sad. “Is everything okay?” asked Tyler.

She smiled but it didn’t reach her eyes. “Yes, I’m just getting kicked out tonight. I called Cassie and she said I could crash there. Keira said it was weird with me here. That I was messing with your head.”

It was weird to think about being intimate with Keira while Veronica was sleeping in the next room. But that didn’t mean Veronica was messing with his head. Tyler sighed. “Veronica, that’s not true. But, I am worried about you. Has Mark kept away since that night?”

“He called and texted a few times, but he seems to have finally stopped.”

“What about Walker? Keira said you kissed him. Aren’t you two seeing each other?”

Veronica smiled and this time her eyes twinkled. “I kissed his cheek for bringing me back home. He was very much a gentleman. But he hasn’t asked me out, if that’s what you mean. And honestly, as sweet as he is, if I’m going to maybe work for him, probably not good idea to date your future boss.”

“Just the same, since I’m going home after our date, you can stay here. You don’t have to leave tonight.

Veronica shook her head slowly and grinned. “Tyler, of course I have to leave.”

“For Keira,” she said softly, “but all things considered, I’d much rather hang out at the bar with Cassie until she gets off, rather than sit here alone. It’s always an adventure at the Blue Velvet. I can see why she likes her job. She has stories for all the regulars the come in. She cracks me up, because they’re spot on. And if she doesn’t, and Walker is there, he just makes one up. And they’re just as funny. I can see why he does well in advertising. He has a crazy imagination and reads people well. And then, after the bar closes, Cassie and I have a date with Ben and Jerry.”

“Ben and Jerry? Who’re they?”

“The ice cream silly,” answered Veronica through her laughter. Tyler joined in, indeed feeling silly for not getting the joke.

Keira came downstairs on the heels of their laughter. She looked beautiful as always, but he realized she wasn’t exactly dressed for a walk in the park with a mini skirt and heels. Asking Veronica to get lost had made him feel bad, but now seeing Keira, and knowing that she planned it so they could have the night together, that made him feel better.

“Private joke?” asked Kiera, her eyebrow arched inquisitively.

“No,” answered Veronica. “Just talking about ice cream. You two enjoy your evening.”

“Bye bye Veronica,” chirped Keira as she pulled Tyler from the couch, “have fun at The Blue Velvet.”

As they walked to the truck, Keira said, “Veronica is spending the night in Willow Creek. I bet she’s spending it with Walker. We shouldn’t waste an empty apartment.”

Evidently Keira didn’t know what Veronica told him. She probably just told Keira she was staying the night in Willow Creek, but not with who. But really, what difference did it make? She was gone regardless. Still, he didn’t think he would stay all night, but he was most definitely coming back for dessert. “No, we shouldn’t waste it,” said Tyler once they were in the truck. “We can have dessert here, instead of the park.”

They actually had fun at the movie. It was a comedy which helped lighten his mood. That and a couple of beers. She snuggled into him like she had before, but they didn’t make out. Maybe because they knew what was in store for dessert.

When they got back to her apartment, however, she immediately became the aggressor, just as she had at the hotel. They barely shut the door and she began to kiss him passionately. All the blood in his head rushed south.

He was light headed and wanted her, so he took over the kiss and backed her up against the wall. Then he pressed his body into her so she could feel exactly how ready he was. It was in the back of his mind during the entire movie, so it didn’t take much.

“Slow down tiger,” said Keira between kisses, “let’s go to my room. I bought condoms and put them in my nightstand for emergencies. This definitely qualifies an emergency.”

Tyler groaned at the loss of contact making Kiera giggle as she took him by the hand and led him to her room.

After they were finished, they lay there for a few minutes, just holding each other and catching their breath. Then, Keira looked up at him. “That was amazing,” she breathed out. “Like fine wine, you just get better and better with time.”

He had to admit it was better each time. Like anything else, practice made perfect and this was definitely an activity he wanted to continue practicing. Still, her words stung more than a little. He knew he sucked in the beginning. And now, with her words, the afterglow was suddenly gone and he became uncomfortable, so he got up and went to the bathroom to clean up.

When he came back from the bathroom, she’d moved under the sheets, so he picked up his clothes and began to get dressed.

Keira sat up in the bed. “What are you doing?” she asked looking angry.

“Getting dressed. I wasn’t planning to stay the night. And it’s getting late.”

“You’re fucking kidding – right? You could stay, then we could have breakfast in the morning. And maybe have a little more time together.”

“Keira, I want to. But … I really need to go.”

She screwed up her face and began to cry. Tyler felt like crap. He got up and walked around to where she sat on the bed. He pulled her into his arms, relieved when she let him. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you. Please don’t cry.” When she finally stopped, he asked, “Are you okay now?”

“Are you leaving me?” she whimpered.

“Keira. I’m not leaving you, I’m just going home.”

“What’s wrong with me? Why don’t you like me?”

“I do like you Keira.” You just scare me, he admitted to himself.

“I can’t change your mind?” she said and sniffed.

“No, I just, I really need to go.” Or I’ll have to call my freaking parents and let them know I won’t be home.

“You’re breaking up. I knew finding someone like you was too good to be true.”

“What are you talking about? And what do you mean someone like me? I don’t have a job. I still live at home. I have ADHD. I’m not an experienced lover by any stretch of the imagination. I’m a reclusive nerd. Tell me what you mean Keira!” His voice got louder and louder with each successive statement and he felt bad. “Fuck, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell.”

“You’re … nice … and admittedly a little nerdy. But still, you took me to The Grand and treated me to a fabulous champagne dinner. No one else would’ve done that.”

“I shouldn’t have either,” he blurted out. “We never should’ve gone there, and we won’t be going there again. At least not in the foreseeable future. That was a mistake on my part.”

A MISTAKE?!” She practically screeched out the words, making him shrink back. “How dare you say that! We had fun. And I had to show you how to do …. this!” She moved her hands back and forth between them in frustration.

Well crap, he thought. “I’m sorry Keira. That all came out wrong. You’re right, we did have fun. And I very much appreciate your patience with me.”

“You appreciate?” Her lip was quivering.

“I told you. I’m not good with words. Please, don’t be upset with me. I don’t like fighting with you.”

“Then stay.”

“I can’t, not this time. Maybe another time.”

“Will there even be another time?”

“I’m not like that Keira. I’d never just use you for sex.”

“Well, that’s what it feels like, especially if you just leave,” she pointed out, her bottom lip quivering.

Crap, she was right. It did seem like that, and that’s the last thing he wanted to do. Now he had no choice but to stay. “Okay. Fine, I’ll stay.”

He knew it was the right decision when her face lit up making him feel better. Now he just needed to let his dad know he wouldn’t be home tonight. “I’ll be right back. Don’t go anywhere.”

He walked into the bathroom and texted his father. ‘Staying the night with Keira. See you in the morning.’

His dad texted him back right away. ‘Thanks for the heads up, be sure to cover it up.’

Tyler groaned at his dad’s text and deleted it. It would be humiliating for anyone to accidentally see it. He flushed the toilet and walked back into the bedroom.

Tyler and crawled in bed next to her. “Come here,” he said softly, “I want to hold you.”

“Mmmm,” she said with a smile as turned to face him. Tyler sighed softly and pulled her close. Sleeping next to Kiera was definitely a better choice than driving home. Now, he wasn’t sure why he felt the need to leave in the first place.

  2. OMG!!! What a manipulative wretch! And he’s a weakling beta male. UGH!!!!

She’s so superficial. Why didn’t he just break up with her? But instead, he allowed her to throw a pity party, tantrum, AND accuse him of breaking up with her. It’s obvious he gets along with Veronica much better. And that’s why Keira kicked her out.

Veronica will make a better roommate for Cassie. I hope that happens. Normal roommates give each other time to find a place to live. Yeesh!

    • Keira is extremely manipulative and poor Tyler is indeed a beta male and she can easily use him like she wants. 😟. He and Veronica definitely get along better and Keira is well aware of that. More to come on this later. 😈. I mean why isn’t she ever ready when he comes to,pick her up? So yes, Keira kicked her out.

I love the dynamic between Veronica and Cassie. They both needed each other and will no doubt become great friends. And she only kicked her out for the night. Not for good. But … that’s probably coming knowing Keira. But then Veronica is graduating in like a couple of months so she’ll be moving on anyway.

      • He’s not even a beta male. He’s an omega…
I can’t really blame Keira for feeling insecure in their relationship as Tyler seems very uninvested and needs to be persuaded hard to take the plunge and do anything. It would have tired any less determined girl out long time ago. We may call her actions questionable, but she does what she can to keep all distractions out of Tyler’s way to make him focus solely on her and invest himself fully in this relationship.

        • I do think Keira is very protective of her relationship with Tyler. I think she’s knows he’s ready to bolt and does everything she can to keep him close. She definitely has motives for keeping him around.

  3. Poor Tyler 💔
His limited social understanding makes him the perfect victim of Keira’s manipulations.
It’s so obvious to anyone watching.
Keira accuses Tyler of only using her for sex …!
Haha! It’s in fact the exact opposite, although I have my doubts whether it’s sex or fame that is Keira’s real goal?
Since Keira’s accusation contains a small degree of truth, I’m worried about whether Kyler will ever be able to unravel that relationship. He’s too much of a nice boy.

    • I agree. Sex isn’t really Keira’s goal. It’s a means to an end. And Tyler just happens to be the perfect one to get her there, at least in her mind. So yes, she keeps everyone away and manipulates him. She knows he’s nice and very naive. And it will be hard for him to unravel it. But I hope he soon does.

  4. Kiera is getting on my nerves. Girl, he’s not someone you can use just as a security blanket! He has his own life! And Ty’s dad reminds me of Ben in a few ways. Ben Murdock, I should clarify. Lol.❤️

  5. Okay. With Mark out of the picture, Tyler is the worst BF. I don’t understand what this character really wants and it’s driving me crazy. What does he want in life? To just exist? He doesn’t seem to be working toward any particular goal. I can’t tell for sure if he wants Veronica or Keira because he doesn’t work toward being happy with either of them. When he’s with Keira, he clearly needs something to lighten up his mood. When he’s with Veronica he seems to be a little happier but doesn’t do anything to fix it. Who are you Tyler? What do you want? Is there anything you are really passionate about? I can’t tell.
And somebody please, hit Ryan with something to finally stop sticking his nose into his kids’ sex life. It’s just so… repellent.

  6. Yeeeah, Keira can go straight in the rubbish bin with Avery and Archer. I don’t know if she has issues of some sort or if she’s just an abusive dumb-dumb. If you’re afraid of your significant other, Tyler-babe, it’s time to RUN. Run like the wind, boy.

  7. So….. my name is pronounced Kiera but spelled Ciara (I’m Irish). Kiera drives me nuts!!!!! She is ruining the name :p 😀 (just kidding!). I can’t warm to her though. The wearing heels at inappropriate times thing though – that’s true to form! She isn’t really into Tyler for who he is but for what he represents / his family.

Ryan’s dad joke actually made me lol. He’s turning out to be a cool dad in some ways. Taysia is definitely a good influence on him.

Looking forward to seeing where this goes ❤

    • I’m so,glad your name is at least spelled differently! I don’t think anybody is gonna warm to her. She’s too manipulative. And you’re right. She’s wants what his family represents. Ryan is thankfully mellowing a little. And yes, all due tomTaysia’s influence, no doubt. It’s gonna be a bit of ride for the next few chapters. That’s a promise.

  8. Wow, that is manipulation of the highest order. Sorry, I just don’t like her. Makes for good storylines but …. nah. I was kind of rooting for him when he spoke honestly, but he allowed her to get to him and coerced him into staying. Pity.

  9. You know what, I feel bad for Keira after this. Yes, she’s clearly got a lot of ducks to get in a row, bit this girl smacks of insecurities and I can’t help but sympathize with her.
She clearly feels so worthless with Ty trying to hit it and quit it, and good for her saying something right away rather than just letting him bang her and walk out. A lot of girls would just let themselves be used by a guy doing that without a word.
So… maybe I respect her a bit more now, even as I feel sorry for her and hope she gets the chance to work on herself and grow into a bit more dignity.
And Ryan… Would you say that to your daughter? “Make sure he wraps it up”
    Gross, dude

    • Ah. A little sympathy for Keira. And I can see where you’re coming from. She has to be insecure to go after Tyler the way she is, even though it’s clearly to becoming ‘famous’ and what benefits she thinks would come along with that. But the fact she needs him to do so is quite sad. She is using him as much as he is using her without admitting it to himself. But because she has to work so hard to keep him focused on her, maybe it is starting to get to her?

And Ryan. Consider the source. He’s trying too hard to be a buddy. Of course he’d never say that to either of his daughters. The good ‘ol double standard.

  11. So sweet! I’m glad both of them are still working out 😊

I’m kind of seeing things from both ends here. I like Keira and I always will, but she’s definitely not perfect. She is quite needy and has a tendency to be a bit abrupt at times.

Okay, so I’m a bit on Keira’s side here with some things. First, you make love to somebody and feel a closeness, then all of a sudden a few minutes later you put your pants on and say you’re going home. OUCH! 😖🥶 I felt the cold icy chill through my body for her. You don’t just get up and leave after something like that. Yes I understand Tyler is very young and his head is a mess. He’s only 21, mind you. He’s not exactly a suave speaker. Like he said, he’s not good with words.

It does look like they will still stand by each other’s side. I hope they grow together and iron these things out. Btw, I’m still quite curious why he had to text his dad. Why not everybody just be okay with him staying the night? He’s a grown man… Dunno. When Ryan said “I’ll cover for you” what did he mean?🤔

Great job always Audrey! I look forward to reading your new chapter tonight 🤘

    • Lol. Sooooo. They are indeed working on it and I have to say Keira has a to. Of patience. And absolutely she can be abrupt. And yes, you don’t just leave after being intimate with someone. Bad move Tyler. She had a right to be upset. I bet he doesn’t do it again though. He does learn. I guess most of us would instinctively know this. But maybe his level of commitment to her isn’t there? He is honorable though. I think the longer they manage to stay together, mostly through Keira’s seemingly unending level of patience and manipulation, he will become a better boyfriend.

So he didn’t tell his Dad he wasn’t coming home. Silly I know. Ever since he ran away, he has this guilt thing about him not knowing where he is. His dad shouldn’t care one way or the other, but since he lives at home, he feels obligated. And his dad told him to ‘cover IT up’ meaning to use a condom. Lame.

      • Oh my bad. lol. I don’t know why I thought I remembered him saying “I’ll cover for you”. Silly me, I just remember him saying a line with the word “cover” in it. And my brain thought something else. Dunno. Haha.

        Liked by 1 person

  12. Ehehe. Tyler seems to enjoy the idea of sex more and more. Now Keira’s sex appeal makes him even forget Veronica.

Omg but now he’s even the fk-and-leave type of guy 🙈🙈
    And it gets worse
He tells her right in the face that he regrets treating her good for a change, by staying at that hotel with her?? Because that’s what she made out of it, and I can fully understand.
He’s giving her so many mixed signals, and that’s just because he cannot be honest with himself and admit that he’s just not into her, but too busy to be nice! 😡

“I’d never just use you for sex.”

I feel so sorry for Keira… even if she’d not be madly in love with Ty, he treats her like shit and no one deserves that.

  13. Ugh – this hits home sooo badly! I was with a co-dependent, manipulative jerk like that a long time ago – fortunately I saw the light quickly and ran like the wind, lol!
Keira is one of the worst kinds – her gold-digging, attention-w@#&%ish ways just add to the already volatile mix of manipulation and co-dependency and grate on my nerves BADLY. And poor, weakling Tyler just goes with it… Tyler, take my advice and run!! Lol
Ryan’s response… lmao! Am I the only one who found it hilarious? XD

    Liked by 1 person

    • I’m sorry to hear you went through that, but glad you are not free of them. ❤️
I hope Tyler figures it out soon. He’s just so easily manipulated. Every time he tries to stick up for himself she twists it around and he backs down. And Ryan, Yep, so very much a Ryan response. Well, he didn’t and he wound up with Maribel. So.

  14. Hrrm.. this chapter pretty much confirms my assumptions that Kiera is very insecure about herself. Yikes. Two insecure people using each other in their own ways. Tyler doesn’t know it. But i wonder if Kiera does? She’s manipulating Tyler, but if she doesnt realise it, then she’s pretty much in the same boat as Tyler, a.k.a he is manipulating her just as much albeit unknowingly as well. Because one manipulation tactic to make someone pine for you is to make them feel that their position in the relationship is unstable. And tyler just did that to Kiera here. Except she twisted it right back at him. 😂

    Liked by 1 person

    • I don’t think she really knows it either and she thinks Tyler is a good catch and she can mold him into what she wants. He has the famous sister so he must be. It’s an in. They are twisting and turning and trying to figure out the mess that is their relationship. And yes, they are both sort of manipulative. Keira on purpose, and Tyler wanting to make it work because he’s never been in a real relationship before.

  15. I hate the way Keira treats Ty so much. She puts him under immense pressure even though – or maybe because – she knows it. This chapter didn’t have the usual hints that she does like him a little, too. She was just plainly mean and manipulated him into staying for the night.
I can understand why she would want him to stay. They’re dating. It’s nice to wake up together in the next morning. But the way she’s making him cave is just wrong. He should run, fast.
